Samsung might be preparing a little trip down memory lane.
A recently surfaced design PATENT, thanks to our collab with David from @xleaks7, shows off what’s being called the Samsung Galaxy Flip Retro.
A clamshell-style foldable phone with rounded corners that immediately call back to the flip phones of the early 2000s.
Based on the drawings in the patent, we made renders of this modern foldable technology with a retro-inspired silhouette, creating a unique mix of old-school charm and futuristic function.

The Design
The Samsung Galaxy Flip Retro instantly grabs attention with its rounded, pill-shaped design.
It's a refreshing change from the sharper, more boxy look we’re used to seeing in today’s Galaxy Z Flip lineup.
It’s softer, friendlier, and gives off a bit of that old-school flip phone charm, but in a modern package.
When fully opened, the phone stretches into a smooth oval shape that looks like it would sit comfortably in your hand.
The patent drawings suggest a clean front, framed by thin, symmetrical bezels that give the screen plenty of breathing room.
Flip it over, and you’ll notice a rounded rear camera module, housing what appears to be a quad-lens setup.

AI Features
Users are expecting Samsung’s next wave of AI features to focus on practical, everyday help.
Features like real-time call translation, smarter note-taking, and instant web or image searches without switching apps.
Camera upgrades powered by AI, such as scene optimization and easy object removal, are also high on the wish list.
Many also want deeper cross-device intelligence, where their phone, TV, and smart home gadgets work together to anticipate needs and save time.

What to Expect in the Future
It’s important to note that patents don’t guarantee a product will hit the shelves, they simply protect a design or idea.
That said, the Galaxy Flip Retro’s friendly curves and nostalgic cues could be Samsung’s way of diversifying its foldable lineup for 2026 or beyond.
If it does launch, expect it to carry the latest foldable screen tech, modern camera systems, and Samsung’s strong hinge mechanism, all wrapped in a body that feels like a tribute to simpler times.
For now, all we have are these drawings and renders, but if Samsung brings this patent to life, the Galaxy Flip Retro could be the most charming foldable on the market.
